Gerald started his Archaeology work in 1963 working, below are the year by year account of his work:

  • 1963 - Special Work on Roman remains in Reculver
  • 1963 & 1964 - Special Work on a Bronze Age Settlement on Hays Common
  • 1965  - Gerald became involved in Special Work on a Medieval dig in Faversham
  • 1966 - Special Work on Roman Settlement in Keston
  • 1967  & 1968 - Appointed as Archaeological Assistant to a Saxon Settlement in Polhill, Sevenoaks
  • 1969 - Appointed as Archaeological Section Leader in Keston followed by work on a Roman Settlement in South Darenth
  • 1970 - Appointed as Archaeological Supervisor of digs at Dover and Keston
  • 1971 & 1972 - Appointed as Archaeological Supervisor of digs at Farningham, Dover and Warbank
  • 1973 - Appointed as Archaeological Supervisor of digs at Horton Kirby and work delivered to the London Museum

Gerald Left London in 1974 to come down to the East Kent area where he got involved in a number of projects in Dover and the surrounding areas, Gerald went on do draw illustrations of finds and his work, he wrote many articles about these finds, these can be found on this website covering the many historical periods right up to the current day.
